An Edo period Katana, Japanese sword sugata shinogi zukuri (lateral ridge), configuration shallow torii sori (possibly originally koshi sori), iori mune (ridge backed), ko kissaki (short point), ko maru boshi (turn back), nakago osuriage (tang substantially reduced). Period: Edo (1603-1868) (Shinto or New Sword Period 1597-1780) (believed Kanbun period 1661-1673) Yakiba/hamon: midare or gunome/midare. Hataraki/activity: bright konie, kinsuji, chikei, tobiyaki, yo, inazuma and sunagashi. Two mekugi ana (peg holes). Signature: mumei (unsigned). Nagasa (cutting length) 27”.Furniture: magnolia shira saya with sayagaki comprising owner’s name (Takahashi Kojiro), and address. Plain copper habaki (collar),Saya overall length 38”.
